Winner of the Lucie Foundation International Photography Award: Faces Behind Atrocity
Nov 1, 2017 | By: Matilde Simas
Proud to announce my portrait series "Faces Behind Atrocity" has been selected as a winner in the Lucie Foundation International Photography Awards. "Thank you" to everyone who encouraged my concept, donated to my assignment, the Photographers Without Borders Community, and HAART Kenya. Most importantly, I'm thankful for the brave young women who participated. Thank you for sharing your stories with me and the world.
Most people believe trafficking happens somewhere else. Awareness is key and simple. Everyone can take a minute and talk about trafficking in their own space. You can also join the movement by promoting and supporting organizations that work to fight human trafficking.
If you or someone you know is a victim or survivor of human trafficking, you are not alone and there are resources available to you.
